Shiny Kiwi is a content project built around pack rips, collection builds, pre-grade calls, and honest market talk, from a collector based in Vancouver, BC who reads slabs for fun.
The name comes from two places at once. Collectors often call Pokémon cards "shiny cardboard," that's where "Shiny" comes from. "Kiwi" does double duty from there: it's a fruit, and it's a bird, and that split is the whole idea behind the name. Cards can be enjoyed purely as a hobby (the fruit, something sweet and personal), or approached as an investment (the bird, something with real movement and value). The logo carries that through directly: the two-headed bird is a Shiny Doduo, picked because it's the closest thing in the Pokémon world to an actual kiwi bird, with a background styled after a kiwi fruit. Two heads, two ways to enjoy the hobby.
I was a huge Pokémon kid growing up, but like many collectors, I drifted in and out of the hobby over the years. I found my way back in spring 2025 when I opened a pack of Journey Together and pulled my first Illustration Rare, N's Reshiram. It's since earned a PSA 9, but it'll always have a permanent place in my personal collection. It's the card that brought my passion for Pokémon back.
What started as my collecting project has become something we're building together. It's still a side project we're building around full time jobs for now, weekend shows and evening content rather than a storefront, growing toward something bigger one step at a time.
